    1. It is hard to get to know Equality because he even has a hard time trying to figure out his own personality and who he is. However, I did like a lot of his personality traits, like his courage to stand alone and his curiosity about the world around him. The only thing I didn't like about him was some of his egotistical ranting at the end of the book, lol. I find it a little annoying.

  2. Q3: He refered to himeself as "we" because they did not teach him individuality. It kinda makes him look like he was not taught anything useful. Q4: No I do not think I would ever be friends with Equality 7-2521. This is probably because I didn't understand this book.

    2. Interesting comment: "makes him look like he was not taught anything useful." I agree. If you look at their society, the council wants people to spend their time on meaningless work, because to have any kind of dreams, aspirations, or goals is selfish and sinful. I bet their education system was almost as interesting as watching grass grow.

  3. 2:Equality was not taught individuality in school. He was not taught the words "I, me, you, etc."
5: She described Equality as taller than the rest of his "brothers."

  4. 2. Equality is not allowed to do anything the Council of Vocations doesn't know about including writing. So that is what makes it a sin, because you are not aloud to know about something that your brothers and council doesn't know about.

    5. Equality stood out to his brothers because he was 6 foot tall, which was taller than the average height of the other people. also stood out because he wanted to learn things that were not allowed in his society.

  5. Q3: He was taught in school that "I" was not a word. "We" was used as a single person.

Q4: No, because I wouldn't be able to understand him. His words and how he speaks would be confusing.

  6. Question 1. I think that Equality refers to himself as "we" because he was never taught that he was an individual. In his school it is taught that all men think alike and that it is a so called "sin" if you think differently. Even though he is just one person he thinks and acts like everyone else being no different. Equality is just trying to make sure he does not break any laws and you can’t act the same as everyone else if you think like your own person. He's trying to convince himself that he and his brother are one whole and not individuals.

Question 4. From where I stand now I would want to be friends with Equality. I think though if I was with Equality in his time that I would be of a different thought. In his time I would not be his friend because he would be trying to change what I had believed in all the time. Also he would be breaking laws and associating with a criminal could get me in trouble and in his time breaking laws lead to a serious punishment.

  7. Q3: He thinks we are all the same as one. He thinks there is "no men just the great we”. He thinks "Some is indivisible".
Q4: Yes, because he doesn’t judge like some people do and he acts different than others. He thinks that every man is like brothers and every woman is like sisters. So in his mind I would say that everyone is equal.

  9. 2. No one in this story is allowed to write accept the council of the scholars. He is also not allowed to hold more information than his brothers, there for he is commenting a crime that could possibly get him killed.

    3. Equality is not allowed to act as an individual. The goverment in this story believes that individlisum is the key to unlock darkness and evil. Because of that everyone refers to themselves as 'we' instead of 'I'.

  11. Question 3: My assumption is that he referred to himself as "we" because he never wanted to think of himself as one individual. He was taught to never think of himself. Ither that or "we" is all he knew. Maybe he was taught to never say "I".

  12. Q3: Equality does not know himself as his own person, for everyone is equal and no one is different. He was never taught the word “I” he only knew the words we, our, and us.

Q5: Equality stuck out from his fellow brothers because he was 6 foot tall, which was taller than the average height span. He also stood out because he studied things that were not allowed in society because it was a sin.

  13. Q3: That is only words he knew at the time. He didn’t know any other words. Nobody would teach him different.
Q4: No I would not want to be friends with equality because he would be confusing to talk to. I wouldn’t know what he was saying. When you would want to ask him a question he might not understand you since you don’t talk like he does.
